A. Most countries have some form of Patent office for the registering of patents and applications for patents. Some even provide information on the Internet. If you find a similar idea to yours, and want to see the whole thing, you have to order a copy by post and pay a fee for it. Some companies in the development field pay out large sums to carry out searches of patents before marketing their latest gizmo. If the investment seems daunting though, remember the one who successfully patents an idea may stand to make a fortune too.
