About us
This is where to find out who we are. Modec
Instruments Ltd began in 1978 with electronic design, inventions,
patents. Gradually, we got involved in software writing, and
produced a number of assembler products for local users. As demand
for these died down (when equipment was superceded by newer
designs), we began servicing all sorts of electronic gear (as long
as it was digital), until today we work with PC type systems and
home and business computers and recycling of old equipment.
We offer free support for 30 days on all paid
accounts, and we even print the limit date for you on your
invoice.
Workshop service costs $60/hour + parts + GST
Callout service costs $20 callout fee + $60/hour + parts +GST
anywhere within the greater Wellington area. We don't charge for
travel time.
We operate a free email support group called
PC-Helpers for 24 hour volunteer assistance
with any PC problem. Click the link to find out more. You must be a
member to submit messages to the group. If you just want to enquire
without becoming a member, please use the feedback form on this
page.
NOTE:The feedback system was developed by us in Perl script, and
can be downloaded free from our downloads page.

What we do
If your PC has a problem, no matter what, we can fix it,
replace it or upgrade it. That goes for hardware, software,
external devices, networks (not Netware please). We also provide
backup services, if you want data professionally backed up
for safekeeping, along with regular maintenance,
antivirus support and often solve some very unusual problems
if you have them.
Our Specialty
Our specialty is creating custom computer systems to
order. Tell us what you need, and we'll work out a quote with
all the necessary features, call on you to discuss it in detail
where possible and then if you approve it will be built within the
quoted price. Not only that, but if anything goes wrong within the
first 30 days, we come out and fix it free. It doesn't
matter if you want to build a cheap PC or the best available
enterprise server system with multiple processors, everything is
done to suit your needs. We even come to your home to provide free
quotations.

It's true, we will help anybody (as long as they pay their bills on time). We're completely
neutral to our customers. All we ask is that our products and
services not be used for any wrong or unlawful purpose.
Be prepared to settle your accounts on time and don't try anything
dishonest. We will catch you out if you do. Anyone found attempting
credit card fraud or similar will be reported to law enforcement
authorities without prior notice.
COPPA: In compliance with US law, we do not collect
email addresses or communicate with persons under the age of 13
years. We do operate links pages (updated by webmaster on request).

Shipping/Handling Policy:
Shipping will occur only after we are able to verify your credit
card or other payment details. If we are unable to do so after 1
month, your order will be deleted from the store in order to
prevent any chance of theft by hackers. If you choose not to verify
your credit card in some way, you will not be able to obtain goods
from this store. Shipping charges apply to all orders where courier
or other related services are entrusted with delivery of your
goods. These vary with distance from the source, (within New
Zealand), and are not refundable. Charges are added to your order
after GST is calculated. Prices shown are exclusive of GST to allow
customers from outside New Zealand to see the real (zero rated)
price on all items. If you live in New Zealand, please add GST to
your order price. If you elect to pick up your order from our
workshop, courier charges can be waived. You will need to inform us
in advance to ensure collection. GIFT SERVICE! Many people ordering
from us have been asking for gift status on packages sent outside
New Zealand. From November 2000 we started operating a system where
customs and tax agents can bill your charges through us. we then
pay it through your credit card/direct deposit payment and the
person receiving the package does not have to pay anything. Please
not that this will mean 2 transactions on your card (first when the
goods are paid for, and second when the tax and customs charges are
required). From July 2001, any goods shipped outside New Zealand
will be treated as zero rated. This means GST charges applying in
New Zealand will not be charged to you. This provides an expected
saving of 12.5% on your purchasing cost over what local customers
pay. We hope you can now look forward to an improved service from

Return Policy:
This company will endeavour to provide the best possible service
and support for your purchase. Faulty equipment which can be shown
to be deficient in manufacture or is damaged in installation or
service by the company will be replaced free of charge. Charges may
be made where problems with equipment or software are shown to be
due to lack of necessary care and maintainance by the user, or
where the user has acted in a way that gave rise to such problems.
The company guarantees its equipment andsoftware, not the
subsequent behaviour of users. NOTE: Equipment ultimately wears
out, and will experience problems caused by normal ageing. MODEC
INSTRUMENTS LTD accepts no liability for parts that wear out in the
normal course of events. We will, however, repair or replace as
required at normal service rates. Refunds are limited to the
purchase price of the goods involved. The company accepts no
liability for damage to any equipment or information arising from
the use of products, or the inability of users to operate them.
